Use the tabs below to browse by topic, whether you’re recording CPD, seeking accreditation, or checking compliance requirements, you’ll find everything you need right here.

CPD refers to the structured process by which professionals maintain and enhance their knowledge, skills, and competencies throughout their careers. It includes both formal and informal learning activities.

CPD safeguards professional competence. It ensures individuals remain effective, compliant, and up to date with industry standards, regulatory changes, and best practices.

Many regulated professions mandate CPD as a condition of membership or licensure. This includes healthcare, law, engineering, education, and finance.

CPD includes seminars, conferences, accredited courses, webinars, mentoring, self-directed study, and workplace-based learning—so long as the activity is relevant and purposeful.

CPD is typically recorded in hours or units. Professional bodies often set annual minimum requirements (e.g. 20 CPD hours per year).

Formal CPD includes accredited or structured learning activities. Informal CPD involves independent study, peer discussions, or practical learning on the job.

Professionals must maintain a log with dates, titles, provider details, CPD hours, and reflections. This record may be required for audits or renewals.

CPD ACCREDITATION

How the process works

It’s the formal recognition that a training activity meets established CPD standards in structure, relevance, and quality. Accreditation is granted by a recognised body.

Getting your course accredited builds trust, credibility, and professional appeal. It shows that your training aligns with industry expectations, improves procurement success, and helps learners log recognised CPD hours. Once accredited, your course will also appear on our CPD Global Register.

Any business, educator, or professional delivering structured learning can apply including eLearning providers, consultants, academies, corporate training teams, and independent coaches. Whether you’re running webinars or full certification programmes, you can submit your course via our Dashboard.

We assess each course based on:

  • Clearly defined learning objectives
  • Course relevance and structure
  • Delivery format (e.g. online, in-person, blended)
  • Trainer qualifications
  • Assessment and feedback tools

All submissions go through our expert review panel to ensure quality.

Absolutely. We work with organisations worldwide to provide international CPD accreditation that is recognised across multiple industries and regions.

  • Trainer bios and qualifications
  • Assessment samples or criteria

How the process works

Your professional body or regulator will define your annual CPD obligations. This is usually set in hours and may include core and elective topics.

Valid activities are those that build knowledge or skill in your field. These include structured training, courses, mentoring, peer learning, and reflective practice.

All CPD activities can be recorded using your personal CPD Pro Log, available once you’re logged into your Dashboard. Our system provides a structured digital log where you can easily enter:

  • Activity name

  • Provider or source

  • Date completed

  • CPD hours earned

  • Key learning outcomes or reflections

You can upload certificates, track your total hours, print reports and filter your log by date or activity type all in one secure place. Your CPD Pro Log helps you stay compliant and organised for audits or revalidation.

Yes, but only if the activity meets the standards of all applicable bodies. Always verify eligibility before logging.

Yes. Most sectors have CPD pathways aligned with role-specific knowledge, risks, and regulatory changes.

CPD ACCREDITATION

How the process works

Most regulators conduct annual CPD audits. Professionals may be required to submit logs, certificates, and supporting evidence on request.

Failure to complete required CPD can result in disciplinary action, suspension, financial penalties, or removal from a professional register.

Retention periods vary but are commonly 3–5 years. Some regulators require longer recordkeeping in high-risk sectors (e.g. legal, medical, financial services).

Yes. Regulatory bodies may conduct random or targeted audits. You must provide valid documentation and evidence of learning outcomes.

Accepted evidence includes certificates of completion, signed attendance registers, CPD logs, reflective statements, and assessment scores where applicable.

Yes, but only in defined circumstances such as long-term illness, maternity leave, or career breaks. Each regulator has its own exemption process.

Submit a formal application to your professional body with supporting medical or HR documentation. Retrospective exemptions may be denied.

Some regulators allow backdating within specific timeframes (e.g. up to 3 months). You must provide accurate evidence for verification.

CPD Global Standards provides provider-approved templates, compliance guides, and audit-ready records. Professional bodies also issue annual CPD guides.
